Mardi Gras falls on March 8th, 2011.  This will be the final blowout party of the Carnival season.  The fat lady sings that day...

But the parades will run for two weeks before that, slowly ramping up in size, showmanship, and crowd size.

Ok, so aside from seeing what parades are running when, what does this schedule mean to you?  Read each parade as a party.  The closer the parade is to Mardi Gras, the bigger the party will be.  The bigger the party? That means more crowds, and more crowds means more targets people trying to use my house as a pit-stop.  The last four days of the season will see HUGE crowds, zero available parking, and lots of action for this site.  Who else is looking forward to it besides me?
